Knights Named for Round 2 Clash with Central Stags in McDonald's Super Smash

The Knights head to New Plymouth this week for Round 2 of the McDonald's Super Smash to face the Central Stags.  Coming off a 7 run first round victory over the Wellington Firebirds, the Knights will be looking to continue on their form from Sunday afternoon at Seddon Park.  One change has been actioned in the line up for the Knights, with fast bowler Scott Kuggeleijn returning from injury, replacing Brett Hampton in the previous twelve.

James Pamment, Head Coach of the Knights is pleased to have Kuggeleijn back in the side saying "pre-injury Scott was bowling very well, very quickly and causing problems for all the batsman. We look forward to having his genuine pace and skill back in our team.  He also provides us with depth in our batting line up and has been working hard on his death hitting options."

Daryl Mitchell, who is sitting at the top of the table with his career best bowling take of 4/35, surprised many with his performance on Sunday, but not Pamment who says that bowling has been a key focus for the all-rounder stating "Daryl was picked to carry out a role for the team and he did that very well last Sunday.  Over the past year or so Daryl has worked hard on his bowling and he is developing as very good option for Dean to have, given the balance of our team."

The Knights will have the services of Australian Big Bash players Ben Laughlin and Nathan Reardon for this game before they head back across the ditch, and Dean Brownlie has valued their contribution to the Knights, especially with the younger members of the team. Says Brownlie "They are both quality cricketers with plenty of experience. They have both been great for the group with both sharing ideas and experiences with a relatively inexperienced group."

Brownlie is wary of the Central Stags and they are factoring this into their game plan, "Every side we play is going to be tough to beat so we know we need to be at our best. They have some match winners in their group and have just come off a win so they will be confident."
