Splice Construction Under 19's Put Up Solid Performance at National Tournament

The Splice Construction Northern Districts Under 19 side have completed their National Under 19 Tournament down in Lincoln this past week, finishing the tournament in 3rd place.

The pool play was competitive with five close games. A three win/two loss record left the team in 3rd place and facing a semi final vs Auckland.

Auckland compiled an impressive 274 in their first innings after opting to bat on a good wicket. Captain Katene Clarke led the reply with 115 off only 100, but unfortunately the chase faltered right at the end and ND came up 6 runs short of the target.

Individual successes came through Brayden Gaylor (16 wickets) being the tournaments leading wicket taker, and Katene Clarke (383 runs) being the tournaments leading run scorer.

Three players have been named in the New Zealand Under 19 team to play in the Under 19 World Cup being held in New Zealand in January - Katene Clarke, Matthew Fisher, Sandeep Patel.
